St. Louis with Uncle Bri & Aunt Amber

Traveling day!! Matt had some time off of school so we decided to go to St. Louis to visit Uncle Bri and Aunt Amber and see St. Louis. We had a great time and were very busy. Matt liked checking out the locations of the hospitals around St. Louis, as they will be a few of his options for residency. We left early in the morning and Kaden had to be woken up at 3:30am. I just let him travel in his jammies because of this reason! He did so well, especially for being out of his normal routine, tired, and it being so early in the morning! Here we are at the Raleigh airport around 5am...Kaden decided he wanted to go exploring! Pointing at people as they walked by. Notice his little pointing finger? Toooooo cute!

Kaden loved the air vents. It must have tickled his head. He also liked reaching up and touching the air with his finger.

Being silly? checking out the lights? stretching? your guess is as good as ours....

Who would think an almost-1 year old would notice something so small. Kaden thought the area by my feet was a great place to play. He sat there for 20-30 minutes and just kept pulling toys out of his diaper bag. It kept him occupied and quiet, so we were all happy!

Kaden loved sitting in Aunt Amber's rocking chair from when she was a kid. He liked being able to rock himself!Kaden's first meeting with Sasha the cat. He LOVED her. She didn't quite feel the same about him. By the time we left, she was pretty tolerant of him touching her, but still didn't enjoy when he approached her yelling "CAT!". I think his voice scared her!

Notice how she arched her back and stepped back after he yelled at her.

..then turned away...Kaden carefully watched her walk away. he was so interested in everything she did.
Then he turned himself around crying....I'm not sure if he was scared of her, was mad she left, or just overwhelmed!Kaden's first time in the snow! He wasn't sure what to think about it. It was a bit challenging for him to crawl in it. I took his mittens off, thinking it would A) help him crawl and B) let him feel the snow. This was okay for a couple minutes, then his hands got too cold and he didn't enjoy it as much after that! Matt and Uncle Bri made him a small snowman!

Kaden and Breck quickly figured out the whole "feed your food to the dog" trick. They both enjoyed this game several times a day.
Breck waiting patiently.

One of the moms from my mom's group let us borrow her carseat, stroller, and pack-n-play. It was SO nice not having to haul all that big stuff on the airplane! Kaden loved playing in Matthew's pack n play!
Twins!?! Uncle Bri and Kaden in their Breckenridge shirts. Uncle Bri and Aunt Amber just got back from Breckenridge and brought Kaden a shirt back for his birthday. Thanks, Uncle Bri & Aunt Amber!Kaden was checking out Sasha.
We took Kaden up in the arch. This is him by the Mississippi River. WOW it was cold!
Look how tiny he is next to the base the arch!

Getting ready to go up the tram to the top with Uncle Bri.

We went to the Magic House when we were in St. Louis. It was a gigantic children's museum that Amber found. Kaden had so much fun there. We were there a couple hours. These were so cool. They were magnetic, so you could make your own "system". Kaden loved that he could spin one object and it made the others spin, too...hmm....anyone need a birthday idea?
Even the big kids had fun...ready, set, pull! ... you had to use the pulley to pull yourself to the top.
Playing in a box of sand with lights under it.
Where's Kaden!?!
Kaden loves the little details and knobs on objects. He loved playing with these three doorbell buzzers.
Up the stairs.

On the slide with Aunt Amber. This was one of those balls that attract colored beams (I have no idea how to explain this object!) when you put your hand on it. Kaden didn't know what to think. He only realized that the beams were hitting his left hand, and would take it away, but had no clue they were touching his right hand, too. This is especially odd since he does everything right handed!

He loved playing the piano.
In the Magic House there was a little pond where kids could "catch" a magnetic fish. Then they could go to the other end of the common area and release their fish. It traveled down a stream covered in clear Plexiglas and appeared in the pond again. Kaden was truly trying to be a big boy and see what was going on. Where did my baby go? He's such a toddler now!
Kaden loved playing in the water area.

Kaden easily adjusted to the borrowed carseat and found that it was a great place to nap. He always sleeps holding onto the tags of this blankies.

We went to the Anheuser Busch Brewery in St. Louis. It was "take your picture with a Clydesdale" day. Kaden didn't know what to think about this gigantic animal. He was especially intrigued by its massive eyes. Dana, my friend from college, met up with us while we were in St. Louis. She hadn't seen Kaden since last May. He was totally exhausted by this point!

He was fascinated by these tubes with bubbles.
Picking his drink out at the brewery. "Hmm...I'll pick this one"
Aunt Amber was teaching Kaden how to throw pennies in the water. He thought it was fun, but was always a bit hesitant to let go of his penny. I think he was starting to realize that he didn't get it back!
While we were in STL, we met up with one of the moms from my mom's group, Amy, and her son Matthew. Matthew and Kaden are close to the same age.
Reaching for Sasha. She didn't stay there long. She moved as soon as Kaden started yelling "CAT" at her. Our last night with Uncle Bri and Aunt Amber. Kaden had so much fun visiting Uncle Bri, Aunt Amber, Breck and Sasha. He was so busy and off his usual schedule, but SO good. He rarely cried/fussed the whole trip.
Chicago Airport.
Kaden really enjoyed watching the airplanes, people, and trucks out the window in the Chicago airport (which we were at WAY too long due to our crappy luck flying and canceled flights). It eventually started snowing and he just kept pointing and "talking" to the snow. I wonder what he thought it was!
