Kaden likes sitting at his picnic table a lot. He will play with small toys, read books, etc. at the table, all on his own. One day he took my cell phone and carried it over to the table and started pushing buttons. Apparently he's already trying to figure out how to text...

Swinging fun
Kaden has never been a HUGE fan of the swing. He always seemed to tolerate it because he A) didn't know what else to do and B) didn't hate it, so just went with it. Now he actually enjoys the swing and will often walk over and show me that's what he wants to do. He will sometimes have the front red guard on, but if I'm right there and he's not swinging high, I take it off so he starts figuring out how to hang on.

More from the water boy
Kaden is my little water-transferring-boy. He LOVES moving water from one container to another. It keeps him occupied and is really fun to watch. I love seeing him figure out how to fill up a cup and carefully pour into another container. I have a pot with just dirt in it that he "waters". I was quick thinking during this session of playing in the water and instead of having to change his clothes when we came inside, I stripped him down before going out! me = smart mom
Hiking
We went hiking through the woods on Saturday to take Talbot swimming. She loves it and Kaden loves watching her...and any time that Matt is home during daylight hours we figure is a great time for us all to get outside together. Kaden enjoys riding in the backpack with Daddy.
One of the spots that Talbot swims and Kaden can walk around.
We ended at a playground. Kaden loves to play at it, and Talbot enjoys the break! He looks like such a big kid here!
Going down the slide:
Swinging with Mommy & Daddy
Some kids showed up at playground after a little while. Kaden loves watching other kids and wanted to do everything they did, including climb up this "ladder".

Such a BOY
Yuck! We were working out front and Matt was digging a hole to bury a rain gutter thing. He found a few worms in the ground and put them on driveway for Kaden to watch as they wiggled around. YUCK! And then Kaden went on to PICK THEM UP and play with them. Double Yuck! Ugh..he's such a boy! I can only hope that our next child is a girl so Matt will have to play with dolls for all the hours I have played in the dirt and mud with Kaden!
Fun with a Kite
Kaden loved watching the kites on the sand dunes when we were on vacation. Matt really wanted to get him a kite as soon as we got home, which we did. Of course, now we've gone weeks without a windy day! Saturday evening there were a few gusts of wind, so Matt took Kaden outside with the kite. Well, the wind wasn't quite up to kite-flying speed, so Matt put Kaden on his shoulders and ran up and down the street to make the kite fly. Kaden held onto the string. It was cute and very fun.
After Kaden got off Matt's shoulder's, Matt just ran up and down the street so the kite could go a bit higher...
Kaden chasing after Daddy.
Once they met in the middle, Matt gave Kaden control of the string. He knew exactly what to do -- run with it so the kite flies!
So now our son thinks WE make a kite fly, instead of the wind, but it was still lots of fun! Maybe if you're not too busy, you could wish us a windy day so Kaden can really see how a kite flies!

Talbot and her treats
Kaden really enjoys giving Talbot treats. He will now stand by where we keep her bucket of treats and say "Talbot treat, Talbot treat". He loves having one in each hand. On Saturday morning I gave him one in each hand, as usual. He immediately took off, hoping/knowing she would follow him. He then went to sit down at his picnic table, placed the treats carefully in front of him, and began looking at his books. He loved that Talbot stayed right next to him while he read.
He turned and acted like he was going to give her one, then got off the bench and took off again. Talbot knows the routine, and of course chased after him, which makes him laugh.
He then walked over to the bouncy seat (which he stands on) and threw them into the basket of the stroller. He reached in and got them out. This entire time he was climbing on all these objects with a treat in each hand. It was so funny.
He got off the bouncy seat and sat on the floor right next to her. He just played with the treats for a few moments, until I made him give them to Talbot (she had suffered long enough). He wasn't happy with me, but quickly got over it and went right back to the treat box and said "Talbot treat, Talbot treat".
It's kinda like the "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" book...

Fudgesicle
We recently bought Fudgesicles from Schwan's. Matt was eating one the other day and Kaden decided to try it. Matt never got it back!

Kaden went to a birthday party
One of Kaden's friends (Matthew) from playgroup had his 2nd birthday party a couple weeks ago. Kaden had fun. It was a "pool" party so there were several kiddie pools set up. Kaden had fun exploring Matthew's backyard and finding all his big boy toys! Kaden was the youngest person there, but still had a great time.
Checking out the pools:
While exploring the backyard, Kaden found this lawnmower that he LOVED:
and then this car...
Which he also realized was fun to push...
and then found a shovel!
and a wagon he could push...
and finally ended up at the sand table
drinking out of the fun firetruck sippy:
The kids had the option of a piece of cake or a cake cone. It was so much easier for Kaden to eat cake out of the ice cream cone, so that's what we did. Needless to say, he enjoyed it!
and a drink to finish it off!
